Industrial Dyes for Polyester are meant to be used in laundries, institutions, hospitals, industrial sites or anywhere that large quantities of Polyester or other synthetic clothing (Uniforms), rags, towels, or whatever need to be colored or color coded. Just toss the dissolvable dye packs into the HOT washing machine load with the goods to be dyed and the recommended amount of Carrier. For Polyester/Cotton or other synthetic/natural fiber blends, this dye and the Carrier can be used together with our Industrial Dye for natural fibers in the same HOT dye bath to color both fibers. (Hint - sheets that are "Permanent Press" will not dye well. The Permanent Press finish would have to be removed.)

These are what is known as a "low energy" dye for Polyester, so they don't require the super high temperatures that the stuff is dyed with commercially, but the hotter the dye bath, the better/darker color you will get. The minimum recommended temperature is 160°F, and 190° does even better. The water soluble bags get thrown into a HOT water washing machine load along with the appropriate amount of liquid Carrier for 30 minutes and then rinsed and washed.  Wash out excess dye with Kieralon or laundry detergent and hot water. That's it!

The results are not as long-term, or as bright as commercial Polyester dyes, but these are easier to use, don't need as hot of water and are much less expensive. No fancy dyeing equipment needed, just a washing machine and access to hot water - Note: Not all polyesters will dye well or even at all, so if it's very important, test first!

Industrial Polyester Dyes Instructions

Industrial Polyester Dyes are what is known as a "low energy" dye for Polyester, so they don't require the super high temperatures that the stuff is dyed with commercially, but the hotter the dye bath, the better/darker color you will get. The minimum recommended temperature is 160°F, and 190° does even better.

The results are not as long-term, or as bright as commercial Polyester dyes used at boiling temperatures, but these are easier to use, don't need as hot of water and are much less expensive. No fancy dyeing equipment needed, just a washing machine and access to hot water.

How much Dye and Carrier do I need?

For 100% polyester fabrics use 1.5 lb. of dye per 100 lbs. of fabric (1.5% OWG) to get medium shades. (With "black", you are going to get more of a charcoal grey with this product.) That would be 6 -  4 oz packets, so 3 for 50 lbs. of fabric, etc. For 50/50 cotton/polyester blends, use half the recommended amount of Industrial Poly Dye and Carrier, and half the recommended amount of Industrial Dye. Keep in mind that sheets, etc., that are treated with Permanent Press do not dye well, with this or any dye. The Permanent Press treatment would have to be removed before dyeing, and only Muriatic Acid does that.

Use 2 - 32 oz. bottles of Carrier for 100 lbs of fabric, so 1 - 32 oz. for 50 lbs, etc. (roughly 4% OWG)

Here's a rough chart to help figure it out:

Dry Fabric: 16 lbs. 32 lbs. 50 lbs. 65 lbs. 80 lbs. 100 lbs.
Dye packets (4 oz): 1 2 3 4 5 6
Carrier: 10 oz. 20 oz. 32 oz. 42 oz. 52 oz. 64 oz.

Use with Industrial Polyester Dye on most polyesters, nylons, and acetate to fix the dye to the fiber.

Maybe if you boiled it? It comes out extremely light even on rayon.
